• Ottawa police investigate suspicious death in Cityview district

  The Ottawa police major crime unit is investigating a homicide after the body of a man was found in a car on Northview Road on Sunday morning. 
  Police have released few details about the death, but yellow crime scene tape surrounded an outdoor pool at the rear of the apartment complex at 32-50 Northview Rd., which is southeast of the intersection of Merivale and Baseline roads.

  At least 15 people have died from the flu in Ottawa this winter, but public health officials say that is likely just a fraction of the actual number.

  Brace for it. Freezing rain is on the way, warns Environment Canada.
  The warning, issued at 11:15 a.m. Sunday, says several hours of freezing rain are expected, possibly preceded by light snow. The freezing rain will likely continue into the evening, with a total accumulation of a few millimetres possible. Some flurries may follow.
  The warning comes with the usual caution of slippery roads, sidewalks and parking lots and transportation delays.

  The Ottawa police traffic unit turned its attention to snowmobilers on Saturday, stopping more than 100 riders and issuing three tickets for improper documentation.
