  Tia Mirna Rabaa was crowned the New Year’s Baby of 2018 when she arrived shortly after midnight at Ottawa’s Queensway Carleton Hospital.
  The baby girl was born at 12:24 a.m. to mother Mirna Aloula and father Anthony Rabaa. She weighed 3.415 kilograms. She has three siblings.

  You’ll be glad to know Ottawa has set a new cold record for Jan. 1 of -28.6 C. The previous record was -27.2 C in 1947.
  If you were hoping Mother Nature’s New Year’s resolution for 2018 was to raise the temperatures a bit, you’ll be disappointed.
  The extreme cold warning for Ottawa continues.

  The Tony Award-winning play, M Butterfly, which tells the love story of a French diplomat and a Peking opera star, is nearly 30 years old. It inspired the 1993 film by David Cronenberg of the same name and just last fall, a Chinese-language musical drama.
