  No room on the bus?
  For a change, that was a good thing on Saturday during the 33rd annual OC Transpo Christmas Food Drive.
  Buses were parked outside 24 participating Loblaws, Real Canadian Superstore, Your Independent Grocer and No Frills locations across the city from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. with a goal of filling a bus with food.
  The event is held each year in conjunction with the Ottawa Food Bank.

• Westbound Highway 401 lanes reopen after 'serious transport' collision

  Ontario Provincial Police have reopened all westbound lanes of Highway 401 between County Road 4 and Country Road 5 in Napanee following a “serious transport” collision that happened early Saturday morning.
  The highway had been closed for more than five hours. 
  Police did not provide further description of the incident or whether there were injuries.
  The eastbound 401 was not affected.
  Napanee is about 240 kilometres southwest of Ottawa.

• Ottawa police board must pay $803,690.17 in legal costs for cleared officers

  The Ottawa Police Services Board has been ordered to finally pay more than $800,000 in legal costs for officers whose watchdog-laid criminal charges were all pulled.
  According to a labour arbitration ruling handed down on Nov. 28, the board must pay within 90 days.

• Santa's pals show up en masse for annual Santa Shuffle fundraiser

  Santa greeted several hundred of his closest friends back to Lansdowne Saturday for the annual Santa Shuffle Fun Run and Elf Walk.
  Participants sporting everything from elf costumes to reindeer antlers frolicked in the cool but comfortable weather to help raise money for the The Salvation Army to help families and others in need during the Christmas season and throughout the year.

  Firefighters quickly extinguished a kitchen fire early Saturday morning and saved the family’s pets.
  Ottawa Fire Services reports they received a 911 call of a kitchen fire at 1272 Trenton Ave., in the Carlington area of Ottawa.
  They confirmed a working fire at 12:03 a.m., shortly after arriving on scene.
  There were no injuries reported.

• Metrolinx wants to sell Presto cards at Shoppers Drug Mart stores in Ottawa

  Ottawa transit riders could get better access to Presto cards if the agency in charge of the Presto system uses Shoppers Drug Mart as a sales vehicle.
  A report published on Friday for the board of directors of Metrolinx, the Ontario Crown corporation that runs Presto, says the agency is planning to extend the availability of the cards at Shoppers, including making them available at Ottawa stores.
