Now Ruey Yu, one of two researchers who together invented AHA skin cream, is telling the story of his journey from a childhood where he hunted rodents to eat, through 1960s Sandy Hill, on to modern-day American success.

OSEG has a familiar plan to get fans moving during Grey Cup week
The Grey Cup transportation mantra is one that fans of the Ottawa Redblacks know by heart.

However, they have all too often become the default option for municipalities to manage their homeless population. As such, people who are chronically homeless constantly cycle in and out of shelters, stuck in this rotating door of misery with very little prospect of things get -

Salvation Army's plan is an outdated way to help the homeless
Based on annual counts of emergency shelter use, it is clear that Ottawa has not made progress in ending homelessness. Whereas in 2004 almost 6,600 individuals used shelters, in 2016 that number grew to more than 7,100. This increase, combined with longer shelter stays, has resulted in a dramatically higher demand for shelter beds.
Ottawa finds itself at a crossroads in combatting homelessness. Down one road, it can commit to business as usual by continuing to fund residential treatment programs -

Striking Ontario college faculty reject offer that would have ended job action
Ontario’s striking college faculty have voted not to accept an offer that would have ended the nearly five-week job action.
The Ontario Public Service Employees Union, which represents the 12,000 workers, had recommended the colleges’ contract proposal be rejected.
The strike, which involves college professors, instructors, counsellors, and librarians, began Oct. 15 and has left some 500,000 students out of class.
Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne says she will meet with college and uni -

CTV Morning Live weather host Melissa Lamb has been let go by the network, according to a post on her Facebook page.
In a tearful phone interview Thursday morning, Lamb admitted she was still “heartbroken and in shock.” She said she learned of the decision on Wednesday morning, after returning from an assignment at the CHEO dream home in Manotick, and was blindsided by the news.

Nasal flu spray stocks in short supply, public health says
Ottawa Public Health is cautioning parents that it is running short of FluMist inhalable flu protection.
FluMist, which is an inhalable version of the flu vaccine, is an alternative to receiving the vaccine through a needle.
It is primarily offered to children.
The health officials said more FluMist is on order and the city expects its supplies to be replenished by next week.
In the meantime, the flu vaccine is available to residents in its injectable form.
