Drug users wait eight minutes on average at health unit's injection site
People needing Ottawa Public Health’s supervised injection service waited up to eight minutes on average at the Clarence Street clinic in the first three weeks of operation, the health unit says.
But Andrew Hendriks, the health unit’s director of health protection, believes the more important statistic is how many people come to the building intending to use the injection service but leave before going through the intake process.
That only happened twice in the first three week -

Shock, confusion in Gatineau follow unveiling of 'anti-niqab' law
Some criticized Quebec’s so-called “anti-niqab” law Thursday, calling it “Islamophobic and sexist,” while others just shook their heads and wondered what it all meant. Meanwhile, in Gatineau, there were few voices praising the new law.
Bill 62, adopted by the National Assembly Wednesday, will require people to uncover their faces if they are giving or receiving a public service. In other words, once the bill has royal sanction and becomes law, it would deny pub -
Ottawa man not guilty of sexual assault because he thought he could have sex with wife anytime
An Ottawa man has been found not guilty of sexually assaulting his wife because of his honest belief that he had the right to have intercourse with her whenever he wanted.
In a written ruling, Ontario Superior Court Justice Robert Smith said the Crown failed to prove that the accused had formed the required criminal intent — mens rea — to sexually assault his wife in 2002.
“I find that the accused probably had sex with his wife on many occasions without her specific consent, as -
