Fury FC's faint playoff hopes extinguished with draw against Battery
Fury FC 1, Battery 1
That collective groan at 3:48 p.m. Sunday, emanating from the stands of TD Place stadium and heard throughout Lansdowne Park, could just as easily have been the sound of a bubble bursting for Ottawa Fury FC and its United Soccer League playoff hopes.
A short-handed goal by substitute Heviel Cordoves in the 85th minute pulled the Charleston Battery into a 1-1 draw, and that was how the game before 5,587 witnesses for Fury FC’s fifth tie in the past six games, eliminatin -

Senators cut three to get to 23 players in camp
The Ottawa Senators swung their axe Sunday to get to their final roster by making three significant cuts and it may be a good sign for the return of captain Erik Karlsson.
Less than 24 hours after closing out the pre-season with a disgraceful 9-2 loss to the Montreal Canadiens at the Bell Centre, the Senators sent top prospect defencemen Thomas Chabot, the club’s 2015 top pick and Ben Harpur to the club’s AHL affiliate in Belleville along with winger Max McCormick.

Edmonton attack: How worried should we be for the future?
If you were to ask most people around the world about my country, I am pretty sure few would respond: “Canada? Oh, it is a hotbed of terrorism!” This is not to say that there have not been any terrorist acts over the years – in fact, many forget that the single largest act of terrorism in history prior to 9/11, the 1985 downing of an Air India plane, was a made-in-Canada plot – but these are thankfully few and far between.

Carleton Ravens take five, then win thrilling double-overtime Panda Game
Ravens 33, Gee-Gees 30 (2OT)
The Carleton Ravens have a five-second rule.
Whatever happens in the course of a football game, good or bad, they have five seconds to get over it.

There was a lot of screaming all over TD Place stadium on Saturday as a modern-day Panda Game-record crowd of 24,420 enjoyed a roller-coaster ride that ended with the Raven -
Redblacks' woes at home and in closing games will surely cost them
If the Ottawa Redblacks do somehow make it back to the Grey Cup game next month, of this you can be certain: They will not become repeat Canadian Football League champions.
They will lose it because they will be playing a team far superior to them — likely the Calgary Stampeders or Winnipeg Blue Bombers — and they will lose it because of the venue.
For whatever reason, the Redblacks are worse at home than they are on the road, and it has been that way for two seasons.

No excuses or second-guessing OT call from Gee-Gees coach after loss
