Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan says Canada has examined the potential that Kuwait could have surplus F-18s for sale to fill the capability gap the RCAF is dealing with. But the main drawback is that the aircraft are not available at this time, he told journalists Thursday.
Instead, Sajjan indicated that the focus is mainly on surplus Australian F-18s for interim aircraft. “As you know, we are pursuing the options with the Australians at this time,” he said.

With one preseason game left, it's time for Senators to rediscover their identity
Still one week from showtime, it’s now show-up time for the Senators.
The biggest fear coming into this season is that the Eastern Conference finalists would get off to a sluggish, groggy start. That the Senators would suffer from a Final Four hangover.
Veteran defenceman Dion Phaneuf brought it up when camp opened. Head coach Guy Boucher cautioned how history proves teams that advance as far as the Senators did last spring almost always emerge slowly from the gate the following October.

Get serious about fixing long-term care
Again, a video camera in the room of a resident at one of our municipal long-term care homes has revealed the mistreatment of an elderly client. 'I went flying because I wanted to fly, not to prove anything': Canada's first female fighter pilot honoured
Deanna “Dee” Brasseur recalls being 11 or 12 and riding her bicycle to the end of a runway at the RCAF base in Centralia, near London, Ont., where her father was posted, and endlessly watching the Chipmunk trainer airplanes take off and land. There, she thought, would I go, too, if only I could.
But she couldn’t. In the mid 1960s, the Canadian Forces didn’t permit women to be pilots.
“I used to watch for hours and hours and hours, and I specifically remember &hellip -

Boeing Dispute – Winnipeg mayor reminds Canadians aerospace industry also in Western Canada
Winnipeg Mayor Brian Bowman issued the following statement regarding the Boeing/Bombardier trade dispute:
“Yesterday, Quebec Premier Philippe Couillard stated that “Not a bolt, not a part, of course not a plane of Boeing” should be entering Canada until this conflict is resolved.

Poilievre: Morneau's tax changes are anything but neutral
For decades, economists and public finance experts have dreamt of a neutral tax system. No more “loopholes,” preferences or favouritism.
