Cose-Manuel has yet to return to the ice. In fact, the 15-year-old Barrhaven youth has been in pain ever since that Dec. 16 game as he continues to wait for corrective hip surgery at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario.

15 Stories: Death of Nichola Goddard showed modern face of Canada's fighting forces
In 2006, Capt. Nichola Goddard became Canada’s first female soldier to die in combat. It was a death that shocked a nation. This is one of 15 Canadian stories we present as part the Citizen’s Canada 150 coverage.
Nichola Goddard was attending Royal Military College and looking forward to a career in the Canadian Forces when a friend gave her advice: Don’t tell the Forces you like camping.
That would be a quick way to be selected for the infantry, where camping meant hard, unfor -

Egan: Ottawa mom fights tech giants for clues in son's death
On Sept. 14, an Ottawa mother with no legal training is hauling billion-dollar tech giants Apple, Google, Facebook and Bell into court to help answer a basic but haunting question.

Maureen Henry, 54, refuses to believe that suicide was the reason her son, Dovi, was found washed up on the shores of Lake Ontario in central Toronto on July 27, 2014.
Only 23, his body was badly decomposed and the case became one of unidentified remains that sat in a morgue for nearly two years, -

Landry: We must always call out hate when we see it
This past weekend, in Montreal, Canadians from across the country came together to celebrate the significant strides towards improving the rights of the LGBTQ2S community.
It was the first national Pride celebration for Canada, and it was a spirited and modern display of support for a historically marginalized group. Amid all the posters and catchphrases, one T-shirt in particular stood out for me. It simply said: “Humankind — be both.”

It is one of North America’s most important flyways, providing habitat to more than 300 species of birds, and sustains more than 80 species at risk.

Last week, we had the pleasure of visiting the MosaïCanada 150 exhibition with thousands of others from far and wide.
What an inspiring work of art to celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary! With its horticultural scenes representative of Canada’s diverse heritage and geography, our pride in Canada once again rang with Roger Whittaker’s song, Canada is the Rocky Mountains – with fond memories also of Expo 6 -

Many homeowners on Dream Court run into builder Luc Legault on a daily basis.
They always have a good word to say about how much they’re enjoying their beautiful new homes, and they often invite him inside for a coffee or lunch.
“This is the best part – to see them happy,” said Legault. “It’s more than a business transaction for me.”
The Legault family’s long-standing care and attention to detail is evident in all of their previous projects, and no -

Katherine Kirk really, really likes golfing in Canada.
The $510,271 U.S. she has won in this country represent nearly one-eighth of Kirk’s LPGA Tour career earnings, and a victory in the 2008 Canadian Women’s Open at Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club was her first of three on the circuit.
No wonder the now 35-year-old Australian is looking forward to a return trip to the national capital for the first time since then.
“I wish I could have a really good explanation for it, bu -

Blakefield wins National Capital Open by two strokes
It was an impressive birdie train that put Mark Blakefield in prime position Sunday.
For all that, though, securing victory at the National Capital Open to Support Our Troops came down to making a pair of clutch, par-saving putts on the final two holes.
“You’ve just got to get it done, one way or another,” said the long-hitting Kentucky native, whose final round, six-under 65 gave him a four-round total of 264, 20-under par, two strokes better than Kramer Hickok.
