  Environment Canada has issued a thunderstorm warning for capital region, and up the Ottawa River Valley as far as Pembroke.

  Ontario Provincial Police officers have laid charges against a 37-year-old woman from Pembroke after she was involved in a crash that sent a Carp man to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

  Environment Canada has issued a thunderstorm watch for capital region, and up the Ottawa River Valley as far as Pembroke.

  More than one hundred soldiers were sent to Saint-Bernard-de-Lacolle, Que., on Wednesday to build a temporary accommodation site and begin assembling tents for asylum seekers. The Department of National Defence reports that the site is now ready. Twenty-five complete tents, capable of housing 500 people, have been erected.   Nicholas Street between Laurier Avenue and Highway 417 was snarled Thursday morning after a two-car rear-end crash that sent a woman to the hospital with potentially-serious injuries and had OC Transpo warning of “major delays.”

  An unattended cooking pot that caught fire is being blamed for a fire Wednesday night that forced the evacuation of about 150 people from a Gatineau high-rise apartment building.

  Ottawa firefighters were called to a Vanier restaurant for a kitchen fire on Wednesday night. 
  Ottawa fire dispatch received a call about a fire at YKO Chicken BBQ on McArthur Avenue at 7:41 p.m. 
  Firefighters say “the deep fryer was fully involved” but had not determined the exact cause of the fire. 
  Around 8 p.m., firefighters had the scene under control. There were no injuries.
