15 stories: The man who survived Canada's worst avalanche
Late on the evening of March 4, 1910, an avalanche cut loose from a mountain face in Rogers Pass, burying a large work crew labouring to clear an earlier slide from the Canadian Pacific Railway’s main line, then the nation’s principal highway. Only one man would emerge from under the snow of Canada’s worst avalanche. This is one of 15 Canadian stories we present as part the Citizen’s Canada 150 coverage.

Public art can inspire real pride
Re: Public art has its place – if we do it correctly, Aug. 2.
Bravo, Mr. Denley! My husband and I long ago made the deliberate decision to settle in Ottawa and we always loved its commitment to green space and access to beautiful museums, galleries, art centres and other outstanding institutions. Now our city has invested in a rapid-transit system that is a standard in modern cities and I sincerely hope it will be embraced and expand quickly to our su -

Sajjan’s chief of staff leaves sparking more questions about the minister’s future
The resignation of veteran Liberal staffer Brian Bohunicky from his position as Harjit Sajjan’s chief of staff has prompted a new round of questions about whether a cabinet shuffle will see Sajjan moved from the defence portfolio.

Susan Xiao travelled all the way from Surrey, B.C., to the national capital thinking a top-10 finish in the Canadian junior girls golf championship would make the trip worthwhile.
Well, it was. Every single kilometre.
