• Chicken barn destroyed by fire in south Ottawa

  A chicken barn went up in flames Saturday in rural south Ottawa.
  Ottawa firefighters received a call at 2:37 p.m. for a fire at 3972 Donnelly Dr.
  The barn, which is 60 feet by 40 feet and houses chickens, was on fire when firefighters arrived.
  Firefighters said the barn was a total loss.
  No other building was affected. There were no reported injuries.
  The cause had not been determined. The fire department was sending an investigator to the property.

  Is it just me, or is the Citizen consistently showing favouritism towards the Liberals and leftists in its news columns and editorials? I have no doubt of the paper’s left-wing bias. But I admit I am prejudiced, since I see things from the viewpoint  of a conservative of (I believe) moderate right-wing views. I don’t, however, believe I am any more prejudiced than the average person of left-wing views.

  A seven-run explosion in the top of the ninth inning carried the Ottawa Champions to a 12-8 victory against the New Jersey Jackals in a Can-Am League baseball game on Saturday night at Little Falls, N.J.
  The Champions trailed 8-5 entering the ninth, but Steve Nyisztor’s three-run double tied the contest and Tyson Gillies later smacked a grand-slam homer to provide the margin of victory.
