Quebec Capitales end Ottawa Champions' win streak at eight games
The Quebec Capitales ended the Ottawa Champions’ winning streak at eight games, defeating the home team 4-2 in a Can-Am League baseball game at RCGT Park on Saturday night.

Several calls of smoke were reported at about 4:20 p.m. Crews found the 10-metre-by-20-metre barn “fully involved” when they arrived and declared a second alarm at 4:48 p.m. -

Barn burns outside Metcalfe
Ottawa firefighters worked into the evening Saturday to contain a barn fire that broke out off Bank Street near the village of Metcalfe.
Several calls of smoke were reported at about 4:20 p.m. Crews found the 10-metre-by-20-metre barn “fully involved” when they arrived and declared a second alarm at 4:48 p.m.
The fire service reported that the barn was empty at the time. An abandoned vehicle was damaged in the blaze and a couple of nearby buildings were “exposed to flame.&rdquo -

Swimmer pulled unresponsive from Ottawa River at Britannia Beach
A young man was pulled unresponsive from the Ottawa River at Britannia Beach on Saturday afternoon.
Witnesses said the man was found floating near the outer buoys at the city-supervised beach at about 3 p.m. and was quickly pulled to shore to be worked on by lifeguards.
They said CPR was performed for several minutes before an ambulance arrived and paramedics took over. He was taken to Queensway Carleton Hospital but transferred to the Ottawa Heart Institute in late afternoon.
