A 25-year-old man and a 17-year-old male youth have been arrested in connection to two separate stabbings that took place within an hour-and-a-half of each other in the west part of Ottawa on Tuesday.
At 3:25 p.m., police were called to the 100 block of Falcon Brook Road in Carp after reports of a 17-year-old male being stabbed by another teenager, also 17.

Gatineau pushes back on province's new flood rules
Gatineau city council has urged the Quebec government to slow down the implementation of a new regime that could determine the fate of hundreds of riverfront properties along the Ottawa River.
Councillors adopted a resolution Tuesday calling on the province to wait until the Public Security ministry completes its post-flood evaluation of property damage before evicting homeowners from land considered likely to flood again in the next 20 years.

The first was 19, and police who were set up on eastbound St. Raymond Boulevard caught him travelling at 154 km/h in a 70 km/h zone.
It’s a long stretch of four-lane road crossing Gatineau Park.
The next driver was 49 — old enough to know better but still travelling at nearly the same speed. He was timed at 143 km/h on the same street.

Runway work means things will get loud for residents near airport
Things may get loud this summer for Ottawa residents north and south of the Ottawa International Airport as the facility closes its main runway for upkeep projects.
The airport announced Wednesday that the east-west runway will be closed in July and August, and for another week in September and October, as a section of a taxiway connecting the terminal apron to Runway 7/25, will be rebuilt.
All commercial aviation will be redirected to Runway 14/32, which runs north-south, during the project.

Toronto student, 15, presumed drowned in Algonquin Park mishap
Provincial police and other agencies were continuing a search Wednesday for a Toronto high school student who is presumed drowned on a field trip to Algonquin Park.The boy, 15, was reported missing Tuesday night. Gatineau police investigate after baby has 'medical distress'
A 10-month baby from Aylmer was in hospital in Gatineau Wednesday, and police were investigating the circumstances behind what they call a “medical distress call.”
So far they aren’t saying the nature of the medical problem.
They were called to a home on Michel Parizeau Street in the north end of Aylmer about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, and the baby was taken to hospital from there.
Gatineau Police say they will likely have more details later Wednesday.
