Snowbirds back on the air show circuit- ready for appearance over Parliament Hill
The Canadian Forces Snowbirds are resuming the 2017 air show season after taking a break to do additional training.
The military aerobatic team cancelled a number of appearances at air shows in Canada and the U.S. last month after concerns were raised by the Snowbirds’ leadership about issues with flying skills.
As a result, the team returned to its home base of 15 Wing Moose Jaw, Sask. for further training.

Suspect sought in alleged theft of $4,000 in donations to autism group
Ottawa police are asking for the public’s help to identify a woman who allegedly stole $4,000 in donations from the Autism Speaks Canada walk on Sunday.
According to the charity the woman was working as a volunteer at the event, which was held at the Bell Sensplex in Kanata. The event is labelled as the “single most important fundraiser” for Autism Speaks Canada, to support research, services, advocacy and awareness as it relates to autism.

Provincial police are looking for tips and witnesses after a 29-year-old Ottawa man died at the hospital in Alexandria where he was dropped off by a van which fled the scene.

A teenage girl was able to flee to safety after she was grabbed by a man who exposed himself on an Orléans pathway but the flasher is still at large, police say.
Police are now asking the public to help them identify the suspect in the May 31 incident.

Train crossing malfunction in Barrhaven causes traffic disruptions
A malfunctioning signal at a train crossing in Barrhaven caused traffic to backup along Fallowfield Road Tuesday morning.
According to city officials the gates to the train crossing between Hollitman Road and Woodroofe Avenue became stuck sometime around 6:30 a.m. and wouldn’t open.
The jammed gates forced traffic along Fallowfield Road to find alternate routes.
