Shooter Fawaz “Caesar” Abdullah and wheelman Hussein Mohammad were both arrested within hours of the July 23, 2014, drive-by shooting, thanks, in large part, to the existing surveillance being conducted by Ottawa police during a summer of gunfire.

Here's the best way to build a new central library

House Works: The beauty in brickwork beyond the basics
When it comes to the look and feel of homes and cottages, the materials used to make exterior walls matter more than you might realize. Wood siding creates a certain look and feel. Bricks are different again, but brick is unique in at least one way. Brick can be both simple and plain, fancy and thrilling. It all depends on how its used. I’v -

Environment Canada forecasts 15 to 25 millimetres of rain in Ottawa Monday, followed by chances of showers for the rest of the week.
Water levels may rise slightly in the Rideau River and Lakes, “but there’s enough capacity in the whole watershed now — ditches and streams and some of the lakes — that it shouldn’t have too muc -
Fire forces evacuation of Tweed marijuana facility in Smiths Falls
A small explosion and fire forced a brief evacuation of the Tweed Inc. medicinal marijuana production plant in Smiths Falls Monday morning.
The fire occurred while construction crews were using an acetylene torch in an unoccupied portion of the company’s sprawling campus in the former Hershey’s Chocolate factory, said Bruce Linton, founder and CEO of Canopy Growth, Tweed’s parent company.
“It appears that somehow they damaged the tanks and that caused a sma -
There will be changes as Senators head into summer
Pierre Dorion isn’t going to rest on his laurels.
The Ottawa Senators may be coming off one of the most successful seasons in club history, but general manager and coach Guy Boucher told reporters Monday morning during their end-of-season wrap-up at the Canadian Tire Centre that the club must come back next September and be prepared to improve.
“Teams are going to get better. We need to improve,” said Boucher.
No, the Senators don’t plan to make wholesale changes, but Dor -

Reevely: Law restricting protests at Ontario abortion clinics coming this fall, Naqvi says
Ontario will have a law limiting protests outside abortion clinics this fall, Attorney General Yasir Naqvi promised Monday.
The Ottawa Centre MPP’s riding includes Ottawa’s Morgentaler Clinic downtown, where protesters carrying placards regularly confront staff and patients. Demonstrators say they’re using their democratic rights to resist a procedure they believe is evil; the clinic workers and women who go there say they’re harassed and sometimes even assaulted.

Today's letters: Race weekend an inspiration for volunteer
Race weekend an inspiration
I had the pleasure and privilege of volunteering at the marathon and half-marathon events. We folks from Pay it Forward were tasked with handing out bananas and oranges to runners who were not yet halfway through their races.
