  A man who was killed at the Salmon Arm Church of Christ on Sunday morning had recently dealt with police after his home burned down.
  According to Global News, the man killed was 78-year-old Gordon Parmenter.
  Parmenter was an elder at the church. He is described on the church’s website as being married with four children, numerous grandchildren and having hosted several foster children “who have benefited from their godly home and teachings.”

  Two people have been hurt during an incident at the Salmon Arm Church of Christ on Sunday morning.
  A B.C. Ambulance spokesperson said that two ground ambulances and one air ambulance were sent to church — at 490 5 Ave. SW — at 10:37 a.m.
  The air ambulance landed at Blackburn Park, across the road from the church, and took away one person. There was a heavy police presence outside the church and the road outside the church was blocked off. The church is in a light industrial zone.

  Justin Kent, of Burnaby, won the men’s race in 29 minutes and 30 seconds. Natasha Wodak, of North Vancouver, took the women’s crown in 32:38. Balraj Zimich won the 10k wheelchair in 31:39. In second place in the men’s elite class was Trevor Hofbauer, of Calgary. Second in the women’s elite class was Kinsey Middleton, from Idaho.

  A local has finally won the Vancouver Sun Run.
  Justin Kent, a 26-year-old from Burnaby, outkicked Albertan Trevor Hofbauer over the final 300 metres on Sunday to take the men’s division of the legendary 10K race by a body length in a time of 29 minutes, 30 seconds.
  After rounding off, Hofbauer was also timed in 29:30.
  Haron Kiptoo Sirma, one of three Kenyans who Kent and Hofbauer moved past at the nine-kilometre mark, was third in 29:33.

• Pedestrian killed in Abbotsford early Sunday

  A 37-year-old woman has died after being struck by a pickup truck early this morning in Abbotsford.
  According to the Abbotsford Police Department, emergency services were called to the 30000-block of Fraser Highway at 2:20 a.m.
  Upon arrival, a 37-year-old woman was found deceased. The driver, who reported the accident, remained on scene and is co-operating with the police. He did not sustain any injuries.
