  VICTORIA — About 20,000 homes on Vancouver Island remain without power after Thursday’s devastating windstorm.
  “The hard-hit areas are Duncan, where we have more than 4,000 customers without power, the Gulf Islands, Nanaimo and Qualicum,” B.C. Hydro spokesman Ted Olynyk said Monday. “It will take a few days to restore power to those who are hardest hit.”

  An Air Canada flight that left Christmas Eve morning for Maui was turned back to Vancouver while mid-flight due to a “hydraulic indication.”
  The flight departed Vancouver around 8:44 a.m. on Monday but was turned around about two hours into what’s typically a six-hour journey.

  Travellers headed to Vancouver International Airport on Boxing Day are being warned of traffic delays in and around the nearby outlet mall.
  Anyone hoping to catch a flight on Boxing Day would best be served by Canada Line instead of trying to drive to the airport. The Canada Line connects passengers directly to the YVR terminal from downtown in about 26 minutes.

• Vancouver police seek Good Samaritan who helped sex assault victim

  Vancouver police are seeking a Good Samaritan who helped a sexual assault victim get home safely following an attack.
  According to Sgt. Jason Robillard, the victim came forward on Friday to report the attack, which took place a week earlier on Dec. 15 just after midnight.
  A woman was walking on Main Street near East 17th Avenue when a man approached her and offered her help with a phone call. He then overpowered the woman and sexually assaulted her.
