  A Vancouver Island Mountie used his police cruiser to run over a knife-wielding suspect who was fleeing an arresting officer in Nanaimo Wednesday morning.
  Just before 10 a.m., a Nanaimo RCMP officer spotted a man wanted for breaching conditions related his probation. Police say when the officer walked up to the man and attempted to make an arrest, the man pulled a knife, threatened to kill the officer and then took off running.

  Neko Case is the second artist to be announced on the Vancouver Folk Music Festival line-up.
  Case will perform on the festival’s main stage on Friday, July 13 as part of her 2018 tour behind her upcoming release Hell-On.

  A man has been charged with assault with a weapon after stabbing a man was stabbed in Chilliwack.
  On March 3 just after midnight, Chilliwack RCMP were called to the area of Yale Road and Nowell Street. They found a 34-year-old man who had been stabbed. He was taken to hospital for significant but non-life threatening injuries.
  About 30 minutes later, Abbotsford police stopped a car in their jurisdiction on an unrelated matter and identified a man inside as a possible suspect.

  Police have recommended charges against a 21-year-old man, alleging he assaulted two employees and robbed a Weeds Glass and Gifts shop in east Vancouver.

  The B.C. government announced plans Thursday to upgrade existing red-light cameras to catch speeding drivers.
  The Ministry of Public safety says an average of 84 crashes happen at each Intersection Safety Camera (ISC) site each year. The ministry says speed is a top contributing factor in crashes, with an average of 10,500 vehicles going at least 30 km/h over the posted speed limit at each ISC site annually.
