Activist Morgane Oger has launched an advocacy and legal foundation focused on combatting hate crimes toward the trans community.
“The Morgane Oger Foundation envisions a nation where there is no inequality or discrimination in the application of our laws,” said Oger, who serves as the foundation’s executive director. Oger is also a vice-president of the B.C. NDP.

Clayton Jacob Warkentin will not be eligible for parole for a decade, investigators said Tuesday.
On Feb. 24, 2016, Chilliwack RCMP were asked to check on Lois Unger, 51, at her home in Yarrow. Officers found Unger dead inside and evidence that her death was a murder.

The reminder comes after a woman woke up in her Walnut Grove home early Thursday morning and found a man dressed in black stealing items in her living room.

Police watchdog investigating pedestrian crash near Coquitlam

One dead, three others injured in Highway 5 weekend crash near Merritt

Around 11:20 a.m., Merritt RCMP were called to a car crash involving two northbound vehicles on Highway 5 near the Larson Hill exit, just 35 kilometres south of Merritt.
A broken down Ford SUV had been parked in the right lane of the Coquihalla Highway prior to be being struck by a tractor trailer. Police were told occupants inside the Ford were trapped and that one person had died.
