Two hikers hurt in knife fight on Mount Seymour
via vancouversun.comTwo men were taken to hospital early Thursday after they were injured in a knife fight on a Mount Seymour trail.
The police incident closed the main road up to the ski resort, as armed police officers and search crews headed up the trail on snowshoes.
North Vancouver RCMP spokesman Cpl. Richard de Jong said a 911 call came in shortly after 5 a.m. from an injured man on the Dog Mountain trail at Mount Seymour.

Residents saw very little sunshine and near record amounts of rain. Environment Canada meteorologist Cindy Yu says YVR saw 249.4 millimetres of rain, making it the fifth wettest January on record.
The record was set in January 2006 when 283.6 millimetres of rain fell on Vancouver. The normal amount for the month of January is 168.4 millimetres.

Dhaliwal was reported missing on January 19, 2014, and was found two days later dead inside his vehicle in the Port Kells neighbourhood of Surrey.
Later that year, Randeep Singh Match was arrested in Abbotsford and charged with second degree murder.
On Friday, Match, 36, pleaded guilty to manslaughter, according to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.

The fire broke out in a single suite in an apartment at 1033 Marinaside Crescent at around 11:30 p.m.

Rarely seen, ‘weird looking’ tropical bird comes in from the cold in Victoria

Vigil held in downtown Vancouver for man who died while breaking up bar fight
via vancouversun.comHundreds of friends and family members gathered for a candlelight vigil Wednesday for Kalwinder Thind, who was fatally stabbed early Saturday while trying to break up a fight outside the Cabana Lounge nightclub on Granville Street in Vancouver.
Vancouver Police shut down vehicle access to 1100-block Granville outside the nightclub to accommodate the crowd.
Thind, known to friends as Kris, was working at the nightclub. He tried to stop the fight but was stabbed and later died in hospital.
