A Kelowna man has been charged with three counts of second-degree murder in connection with deaths of his wife and two young daughters.
The bodies of Clara Soledad Forman and her daughters, Karina Anne, eight, and Yesenia Kate, seven, were found in their home on Dec. 19.
Jacob Daniel Forman, born in 1983, was arrested a short time later. He made his first court appearance on Wednesday, during which he was ordered to stay in custody, and is due to make another in B.C. provincial court in Kelowna

Five Things about Canada's mobile phone prices
via vancouversun.comWhy did the telecoms do this?
Given the chase for subscribers, it’s probably not much of a surprise how things played out this weekend in the local cellphone market. First there was Shaw’s Freedom Mobile making an aggressive pricing move way back in October. Then over the weekend, along came Rogers and Fido. Then it was Telus and Koodo. And finally, Bell.
It’s the fear of being left behind, of not seizing the moment. And about retaining market share in face of new Canadian-base -

via vancouversun.comIf you’re flying from Vancouver International Airport on Thursday, be ready to wait.
Thursday, YVR says they’re expecting as many as 83,000 people — and the coming days will be nearly as busy.

So, yes, possible flight delays because of snow clearance off of -

Opinion: Vision Vancouver 'nickel and diming' taxpayers
via vancouversun.comTell me, are you getting your money’s worth? It’s a question I have asked Vancouver taxpayers many times during my six years on City Council. I’ve asked the question so many times that I’m starting to have double and triple déjà vu every time the city’s annual operating budget comes forward.
If you’re looking for an answer to the value-for-money question, you will find it buried deep in the City’s 2018 Budget on page 379. Only 35 per -
Opinion: Decision to approve Site C undermines reconciliation with Indigenous peoples and long-term action on climate change
via vancouversun.comThe controversial $10.7-billion Site C dam is Canada’s first mega-project in the new era of reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples. Regulatory reviews, public consultations and the subsequent decision by B.C. Premier John Horgan to proceed with dam construction have occurred at a time when Canadians have finally begun to come to terms with our long painful history of colonization of Indigenous Peoples and their lands and territories. Following the release of the Truth and Reconciliation Co -

Founder of Vancouver lithium venture cashes in on decarbonizing the economy
via vancouversun.comIn 2015, Vancouver junior-mining financier Brian Paes-Braga bet that it would be good business to get into supplying materials for fossil-fuel-free transportation.
This week, the 29-year-old Paes-Braga and his partners in the venture they founded, Lithium X Energy Corp., cashed in on that bet with a $265-million deal to sell the company to Chinese firm NextView New Energy Lion Hong Kong Ltd.
For shareholders, the sale is a good pay out for the $50 million they’ve raised to secure lit -

Her grave site on the grounds of the Catholic-run institution at Fraser Lake is all that remains of the school, but it brings Indigenous and non-Indigenous visitors on pilgrimages every year seeking spiritual and physical healing.
Prince was known for her devout faith, compassion, humility and self-sacrifice. But it’s the almost unreal circumstances -
ART SEEN: Paintings by Jay Senetchko explore eternal recurrence at Winsor Gallery
via vancouversun.comIf you go Back to the Future and Forward to the Past, where is the present?
Jay Senetchko’s paintings at Winsor Gallery are big narrative, figurative works that made me think of a future that might happen or a past that’s been forgotten. They’re oil on canvas paintings with frames that look heavy and ornate like you might find on some 19th century European masterpiece. But there’s a difference. Instead of the edges of the frames projecting forward into the space of
