Strong economy behind high demand for housing sales in B.C., report says
via vancouversun.comThe B.C. Real Estate Association says a strong economy has pushed up demand and prices for housing in the province compared with last year.
The association’s latest report says 7,731 sales were recorded by the Multiple Listing Service in November, a 20.4 per cent increase from November 2016.
The average price was $723,112, up 15.5 per cent from the same period last year.

via vancouversun.comAbbotsford police have seized a massive quantity of drugs and cash in an investigation that was launched this October following the suspected overdose deaths of five individuals within 10 hours.
On Oct. 27, five people, all between the ages of 40 to 67, were found dead inside their Abbotsford homes as a result of suspected drug overdoses. Police then launched a probe into high-level traffickers in the area who provide fentanyl and other drugs to local dealers.

Man charged in Surrey/Delta border shooting that injured one
via vancouversun.comA man has been charged after a shooting last month that resulted in injuries to one man and a lockdown at a local school.
The shooting occurred around 8:40 a.m. Nov. 23 near 96th Avenue and 116th Street near the Surrey-Delta border.
Police who responded that day found a 33-year-old Surrey man suffering from a gunshot wound and, as a precaution, ordered Royal Heights Elementary to be put on lockdown.
The attacker fled before police arrived but was quickly identified.

Surrey police seek suspect from alleged convenience store robbery
via vancouversun.comPolice are seeking the public’s help in identifying a suspect who allegedly pulled out a knife and robbed a convenience store in Surrey’s Cloverdale neighbourhood last month.
Around 3:10 a.m. on Nov. 12, a man entered a convenience store int he 17600-block 60th Avenue and brandished a knife. He allegedly threatened the store’s staff. Police have not said what was taken from the shop.

Vancouver parents pay a median monthly fee of $1,292 for full-time toddler care, second only to Toronto, while parents in Burnaby and Richmond pay $1,200, according to CCPA’s new report Time Out: Child Care Fees in Canada.
Parents of infants pay even more, about $1,360 in Vancouver.
