• Vancouver boosts salt supply as it readies for snowy winter

  Vancouver is bringing more salt to the table as it prepares to battle Old Man Winter’s worst.
  The city, which was ill prepared for last winter’s record snowfalls and freezing temperatures that paralyzed parts of the region, has boosted its snow response plans for the upcoming season.

  A 17-year-old boy who is well known to police has been arrested and charged following a bear-spray attack at a Burnaby SkyTrain station.
  The incident took place on the morning of Nov. 1. According to Transit Police, a man and his son were walking down a staircase from the train platform when they were confronted by a young man who felt they were walking too slowly.

  The body of fallen Abbotsford Const. John Davidson will be escorted by a police motorcade from Vancouver General Hospital to an Abbotsford funeral home on Thursday.

  More white supremacist flyers have been circulating in B.C, this time in Burnaby.
  A photo of a flyer advertising a white supremacist website was posted on Twitter Thursday. Twitter user @leacohodas says she saw the poster outside the Bob Prittie library in Metrotown on Wednesday.

• More than 1,100 drug overdose deaths in B.C. this year

  The number of overdose deaths from illegal drugs nearly doubled this year, as the province grapples with an ongoing opioid crisis.
  The B.C. Coroners Service released a new tally Thursday on the number of illicit drug overdose fatalities in B.C. 
  So far this year, a shocking 1,103 have died from an overdose, up from 607 at this time in 2016. None of the fatalities happened at a safe injection site.

  One man is in hospital after he was shot during a violent home invasion in Aldergrove Wednesday night.
  Langley RCMP say shortly before 7:30 p.m., officers received multiple calls to the area of 266 Street and 29 Avenue. 
  When they arrived they discovered that multiple suspects had forced their way into the residence. A 27-year-old Langley man suffering from gunshot wounds was taken to the hospital.
