Celebrity makeup artist Patrick Ta talks Instagram beauty, highlighters and time constraints
via vancouversun.comPatrick Ta sits casually in a chair on the patio of the penthouse at the Loden Hotel in Vancouver.
Rather than stare out at the impressive view of glass-covered residential towers shooting up from the streets below, to say nothing of the Burrard Inlet and Stanley Park beyond — he’s drawing on his hand.
But, rather than exhibiting a classic sign of adolescent disobedience, Ta is demonstrating something for a small group of media. So, what’s he working on that’s -

Turkey Trot draws record crowd, shows world still full of caring peeps
via vancouversun.comAs a huge country music fan who has attended numerous festivals and concerts featuring the genre’s biggest stars, you can imagine how nauseated I felt watching the Las Vegas tragedy unfold last week.
Much like the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013, and the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting one year earlier in Newtown, Conn., it really tugged the old heartstrings and made you feel like the world we once knew was messed up and going down the toilet.

Opinion: Culture strategy steers Canada into digital age
via vancouversun.comWhen Minister of Heritage Mélanie Joly recently launched “Creative Canada,” it was a crucial reorientation toward the digital realm. While it has been denounced for lack of support for the news industry, satellite and cable, and for traditional Canadian media, the critics are missing the point.
The purpose of culture funding is to enable Canadians to tell their stories, and for Canadians to see themselves in music, film, TV and written products however they are distributed. Th -
