  A gang-linked inmate in pretrial custody told police last December that his cell-mate Othman Hamdan threatened to “blow up” RCMP headquarters in Surrey, an immigration hearing heard Monday.

  VICTORIA — The B.C. government has introduced promised reforms to lobbying rules that will forbid former provincial officials from lobbying for two years after leaving office.

  VANCOUVER — As dairy products, Bombardier aircraft and softwood lumber continue to bedevil trade relations between Canada and the U.S., negotiators will have to add wine to their list of issues to resolve.

  One person has been killed in a helicopter crash on Vancouver Island.
  A spokesman with the Canadian Forces rescue squadron in Comox says crews were called to an area about three kilometres west of Campbell River Sunday afternoon.
  The spokesman says two people were aboard the Robinson 44, a single-engine, four-seat helicopter, when it went down in heavy bush.
  One of the two people on board died at the scene.
  The second person was taken to hospital but a condition of that victim is not available.

  The city of Vancouver has the most pampered pets in Canada, according to data released by Amazon.ca.

  CAMPBELL RIVER, Canada — Officials say a helicopter has crashed on Vancouver Island.
  The Joint Rescue Co-Ordination Centre says the aircraft went down near the Campbell River airport on Sunday afternoon.
  The centre says local ambulance, fire crews and police are en route to the scene, along with a military helicopter based in Comox.
