For many of us, that will include getting out on the water, as boating can be anything from kayaks to catamarans, or paddleboards to power yachts. There is no better way to explore our province than on a boat, but it is important to enjoy this activity safely and -

Controlled burn goes wrong, threatening homes and worrying residents
via vancouversun.comEyewitnesses say a four-square-kilometre blaze to the southwest of the massive Elephant Hill fire, between Cache Creek and Clinton, is a case of a controlled burn gone wrong.

Vaughn Palmer: Site C review leaves door open to mothball entire project
via vancouversun.comVICTORIA — After weeks of speculation, the New Democrats released terms of reference Wednesday for a review of Site C that left the door open for them to terminate, mothball or continue the project.
The middle option — mothballing — was the more clever politically of the three that the cabinet presented to the B.C. Utilities Commission for consideration.
It could allow sufficient delay to satisfy those who say Site C power will not be needed when the giant hydroelectric da -

PNE Donut Dash 5K set to serve up a hole lot of flavoured fun at Fair
via vancouversun.comA young lady with a bulging eyeball and blood smeared all over her face, neck and clothes wished passersby a great afternoon on Wednesday.
As they returned pleasantries, some more shocked than others, Canuck the Crow swooped past some documentary-making folks gathered near Playland’s Haunted Mansion, trying to speak loud enough so as not to be drowned out by the screams coming from nearby rides.
The unmistakable smell of PNE food, trying to compete on this day with the smell of smoke blown -

This is the movie that set the template for t -

No charges laid over Mount Polley dam failure under B.C. law
via vancouversun.comThere will be no regulatory charges laid under B.C.’s environmental laws for the Imperial Metals’ Mount Polley tailings-dam failure in 2014.
One of the largest mining-dam failures in the world in the past 50 years, it had shaken the industry and caused concerns that aquatic life would be harmed, particularly salmon that use the Quesnel Lake system to spawn.
There remains a possibility of federal charges under the Fisheries Act.
The three-year deadline to lay provincial -

Mountain resort to be tapped on chipping in for Grouse Grind upkeep
via vancouversun.comGrouse Mountain Resort makes millions every year off the legions of hikers completing the Grouse Grind, through tickets to ride the aerial tramway back down the mountain as well as food and beverage sales.
As such, should it be chipping in for the direct annual maintenance costs of the iconic trail, which is now officially part of Metro Vancouver’s 75-hectare Grouse Mountain Regional Park?

Mixed results a year after the foreign buyer tax kicked in

But a year later, the jury is still out on the tax, which is under review by the ministries of finance and housing under the new NDP government.
The tax has curbed the number of foreigners buying properties in Metro Vancouver. -
Ben Kuzma: Extension for 'real deal' Horvat should start at $5M per year
via vancouversun.comFormulas, facts and forecasts are applicable and debatable to determine the true worth of Bo Horvat.
The Vancouver Canucks’ restricted free-agent centre is still seeking a contract extension and because the National Hockey League club is sold on its future captain, term isn’t going to be as big a hurdle as the annual average value of what could — and should — be a six-year commitment because the club has balked at eight years.
