  VICTORIA — A Canadian yoga innovator, Buddhist and author has died of a suspected drug overdose after his family said he took street drugs in Victoria.
  Michael Stone, who offered compassion and collaboration yoga and meditation retreats worldwide, died earlier this month two days after being found unresponsive on July 14.
  Stone’s wife, Carina, said in a statement her husband likely purchased the drugs in an attempt to self-medicate for his ongoing struggles with bipolar disorder.

  Two men have been charged with second degree in connection with the July 7 killing of Doug Presseau.
  Presseau, a 41-year-old Chilliwack resident, was one of two men stabbed to death during a fight at the corner of Young Road and Princess Avenue.

  The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team said it’s not known whether the murder of Marrisa Shen was targeted or random.
  On Twitter, police investigators said there are no updates for the media on Monday and said anything new from the investigation will be “provided when available.”
  “U/K if it’s targeted or random,” said police.
  Shen, 13, was reported missing at 11:30 p.m. last Tuesday and her body was found in the southeast area of Central Park at 1:10 a.m.

  Agassiz RCMP have suspended the search at Statlu Lake for 34-year-old Australian hiker Sophie Dowsley.
  Dowsley and her Canadian partner Greg Tiffin were last seen in Harrison Hot Springs on July 8.
  Their vehicle was later found parked near a Statlu Lake hiking trail by Kent Harrison Search and Rescue.
  Tiffin’s body was discovered July 18 in Statlu Lake, one week after the pair was reported missing.

  The nearly 2,000 residents of 100 Mile House are breathing sighs of relief as they’ve been allowed to return home following the cancellation of an evacuation order.
  The evacuation was ordered two weeks ago because of worries about the large Gustafsen fire burning to the west of the village. The conditions in the area have calmed enough to allow the safe return of residents to 100 Mile House.
