'High school': Colorado institute offers niche program for marijuana sommeliers
via vancouversun.com
A marijuana aficionado in Colorado has launched a program he hopes will make the title of cannabis interpener as familiar as wine sommelier, cheesemonger and chocolatier.
Max Montrose, the 29-year-old president and co-founder of the Trichrome Institute in Denver, said he designed the niche curriculum, which teaches students how to become marijuana experts, after he became fed up with the inconsistent quality and improper naming rampant in the blossoming industry.

A B.C. Supreme Court judge has ruled a three-year jail term is a fit sentence for a Merritt man who pleaded guilty to selling a stolen shotgun to who he believed was his drug dealer for $80 and a small amount of crack.
Rodney Boesel pleaded guilty last year to trafficking a weapon in connection with the incident that occurred on May 1, 2014, when he stumbled across a gun and immediately sold it to a person who turned out to be an undercover Mountie.

No one was injured in the incident, but “based on the information collected so far, investigators believe this incident was likely targeted,” Doucette said.

Dinosaur skull discovery in northeastern B.C. a first in the province
via vancouversun.com
TUMBLER RIDGE — A piece of dinosaur skull unearthed in northeastern British Columbia earlier this month is the first of its kind discovered in the province, an expert says.
The fossilized tyrannosaur skull was found near Tumbler Ridge, in an area that has produced hundreds of dinosaur teeth, bones and footprints since 2001, but until this month had never yielded a skull.
Richard McCrea, director of the Peace Region Palaeaontology Research Centre, said the discovery means B.C. now has &ldqu -

Whitecaps 1, FC Dallas 1: Techera's free kick salvages tie

Cristian Techera added a silver lining to the Vancouver Whitecaps’ roller-coaster week.
The pint-size Uruguayan scored on a beautiful free kick in the 74th minute as Vancouver fought back to draw FC Dallas 1-1 on Saturday night.

Editorial: Who will stand as Speaker?
via vancouversun.com
On May 9, B.C. voters gave the Liberals the most seats of any single party, allowing the incumbent Premier Christy Clark to try to form a government. However, a majority put in place an opposition poised to take over if the Liberals fail to gain the confidence of the legislature.
Accordingly, Clark appointed a new Cabinet and is prepared to table a Throne Speech when the legislature is called back June 22. It is all but inevitable that the government will be defeated in a confidence vote shortly -
Ed Willes: Whitecaps performance and message overshadowed by off-field incidents
via vancouversun.com
Since they joined MLS six-plus years ago, the Vancouver Whitecaps have presented themselves as a franchise built on the best values of sport.
This is good business. Tickets and jerseys are easier to sell when fans believe they’re investing in a team that represents higher principles. This is true of Manchester United, the New York Yankees, the Dallas Cowboys and every franchise in every professional league.
But, in the Whitecaps’ case, it also seemed to be more than a corporate strat -
