  The driver of a vehicle that hit a hydro pole on Boundary Road Sunday morning is dead and a passenger is in hospital with life-threatening injuries.
  According to Vancouver police, the vehicle was travelling southbound and appears to have hit the pole near Marine Way.
  Police are on scene investigating and hoping to find witnesses who might have witnessed the apparent single-vehicle crash.

  An Abbotsford couple is making a big splash in the world of outdoor recreation by converting shipping containers into backyard pools.
  Paul and Denise Rathnam launched Modpools at the B.C. Home + Garden Show in Vancouver earlier this year. Since then, the idea has taken off, with orders mostly from California, Nevada, Texas and Florida.

  Sunday morning saw several incidents slowing traffic on Metro Vancouver’s roads.
  Two incidents on Highway 1 and another on the Stanley Park Causeway caused delays for drivers beginning just before 9:30 a.m.
  According to Drive BC, an incident just before 9:30 a.m. at the westbound Kensington on-ramp on Highway 1 drew several fire trucks, police vehicles and an ambulance. For nearly an hour afterwards, the on-ramp was closed and traffic travelling westbound on Highway 1 dealt with long delay

  Travellers using the Expo Line Sunday morning are facing delays because of an “equipment fire” at New Westminster Station.
  Shuttle buses are operating between Edmonds and Columbia station.
  The fire is now out; a Translink spokesperson said just before 11 a.m. that service would return to normal “any time now.”

• Merritt man sentenced to three years in prison for selling shotgun

  A B.C. Supreme Court judge has ruled a three-year jail term is a fit sentence for a Merritt man who pleaded guilty to selling a stolen shotgun to who he believed was his drug dealer for $80 and a small amount of crack.
  Rodney Boesel pleaded guilty last year to trafficking a weapon in connection with the incident that occurred on May 1, 2014, when he stumbled across a gun and immediately sold it to a person who turned out to be an undercover Mountie.

  Police say a late-night verbal altercation on Granville Street between “a few men” ended with a pair of stabbings.
  The incident happened just after 3 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of Granville and Davie Streets.

  Shots fired at a home near West 75th Avenue and Angus Drive early Sunday morning don’t appear to have been an accident, Vancouver police say.
  In an email, Const. Jason Doucette says VPD investigators found bullet holes in a home after receiving calls about shots fired at about 1 a.m. Sunday.
  No one was injured in the incident, but “based on the information collected so far, investigators believe this incident was likely targeted,” Doucette said.

  TUMBLER RIDGE — A piece of dinosaur skull unearthed in northeastern British Columbia earlier this month is the first of its kind discovered in the province, an expert says.

  Abbotsford Police suspect an arsonist may be to blame for a fire that destroyed an OK Tire early Saturday morning.
  A witness saw a man running from the business in the 33200-block of South Fraser Way at about 4:30 a.m., according to a news release. The witness called 911 after seeing flames and smoke coming from the building.
