Morgan gets the itch to return to PGA Tour Champion's proving grounds
via vancouversun.com
The inaugural Greater Vancouver Open was 21 years ago, but Doug Morgan will never forget teeing up alongside some of the world’s best golfers at the former PGA Tour stop in Surrey.
A member of the PGA of Canada since 1991, Morgan specializes in coaching while still competing at the club pro level in local and provincial events. He speaks fondly of his time as an instructor and coach, helping local players like Langley’s Devin Carrey rise to the professional circuits such as the Web.c -
This Week in History: 1940 With the Second World War heating up, Canada bans many left-wing organizations
via vancouversun.com
The Second World War was not going well for the allies in June, 1940. The German blitzkrieg had raced across Western Europe, forcing British forces into a mass evacuation from Dunkirk between May 27 and June 4.
The fall of France seemed imminent, so Italy’s fascist leader Benito Mussolini decided it was time to enter the war and share in the spoils. On June 10, Mussolini declared war on Britain and France.
“The hour of destiny has arrived for our Fatherland,” Mussolini declared -
Transgender trailblazer narrowly lost in B.C. election, but vows to continue her activism
via vancouversun.com
As Morgane Oger sits on a sunny café patio, several passersby wave hello or offer condolences to the rookie NDP candidate, who narrowly lost the Vancouver-False Creek riding to a high-profile Liberal incumbent in the May 9 provincial election.
This friendly banter on the patio would have been hard for Oger to imagine four years ago, when the 45-year-old IT consultant and father of two young children took the daunting step of beginning to live as the gender she has always felt: female -

Perched on the lip of the Grand Canyon’s North Rim, I gaze vertiginously down upon stratum upon stratum of multihued rock lie stacked beneath me, each representing a geological epoch. Dating back over two billion years, they reveal more dramatically than anywhere else on earth how our world was formed, while two miles below, the Colorado River snakes through the gorge, carving ever deeper into this iconic symbol of the American Southwest.

How many ‘Easter eggs’ can you spot in Pixar Studios' Cars 3 movie?
via vancouversun.comWhen you’re watching Cars 3, don’t forget to keep an eye out for those Pixar Easter eggs.
Not the coloured kind, of course. These Easter eggs are intentional inside visual jokes slipped into the background by Pixar animators. The term Easter egg was first coined to describe a hidden message in the Atari video game Adventure that led Atari to encourage further hidden messages in later games, treating them as Easter eggs for players to find.
Pixar picked up on that game — or hunt -

There is no greater showcase for a professional league than the big stage of its playoffs in general and championship series, in particular.
