• OPP put the brakes on driver trying to tow fire-damaged trailer

    On Wednesday, June 11 at 12:40 p.m., Temagami OPP stopped a tow truck attempting to tow a trailer involved in a fire by removing eight wheels and caging the brakes. Following a level 2 Commercial Vehicle Safety Inspection (CVSA) , the vehicle combination was deemed unsafe and placed out of service. The plate and annual inspection sticker were removed.

  • More city-owned vehicles in North Bay have tires slashed

    The slasher has struck again. Sometime overnight on Sunday multiple tires were slashed on municipal vehicles parked at the public works facility on Franklin Street, according to city communications officer Gord Young. He said the estimate of damage is around $12,000. And brings the total damage to city-owned vehicles to more than $62,000. “This follows a similar incident at Lee Park earlier this month, where more than 20 vehicles were damaged, resulting in more than $50,000 in costs,&rdquo

    An internal committee comprised of Mayor Peter Chirico and Coun. Lana Mitchell will investigate allegations of bullying and the toxic work environment at the North Bay Mattawa Conservation Authority. The meetings are expected to take place on Wednesday. This comes after the board instructed board chair Michelle Lahaye, as well as, deputy CAO Rebecca Morrow not to attend the June 11 board meeting.
