Police have issued an arrest warrant for a 30-year-old man who they say rammed a police vehicle with a stolen pickup truck and then fled in Whiskey Creek last week.
At approximately noon on Feb. 12, Oceanside RCMP officers patrolling for a pickup truck that fled from police twice in the past days, located a stolen white Ford F-350 in a pullout on the Whiskey Creek Forest Service Road, according to a news release by RCMP.

B.C.’s new budget does away with the Independent Office of the Merit Commissioner, a legislative oversight body meant to prevent the governing party from appointing political cronies to positions of power in the public service.

BC RCMP are renewing their call for information on a 13-year-old homicide case in West Kelowna.
Today, Feb. 18, marks 13 years since Jeremy Snow and Tiffany Goruk were killed.

Harman Bhangu is the latest to throw his hat into the ring and announce he’s seeking the leadership of the B.C. Conservatives.

A man in Nanaimo rescued a kitten from a tree in the darkness earlier this week, with police watching on.

On July 9, 2025, Anna Witte reached out to local bird enthusiasts Shahaila Dickson and Brad Hoy for assistance with an eagle she discovered in distress. Gas prices in Okanagan, Shuswap, Grand Forks currently lowest in B.C.
The lowest gas prices in British Columbia can currently be found in the Okanagan and Shuswap regions, as well as one Kootenay town.
According to Gasbuddy.com, the Super Save Gas stations both Vernon and Grand Forks are priced at $107.9 per litre on Wednesday morning (Feb. 18).
At many gas stations throughout the region, including Kelowna, West Kelowna, Peachland, Vernon, Salmon Arm, prices are listed at $109.9 per litre.

The lowest gas prices in British Columbia can currently be found in the Okanagan and Shuswap regions, as well as one Kootenay town.
According to Gasbuddy.com, the Super Save Gas stations both Vernon and Grand Forks are priced at $107.9 per litre on Wednesday morning (Feb. 18).
At many gas stations throughout the region, including Kelowna, West Kelowna, Peachland, Vernon, Salmon Arm, prices are listed at $109.9 per litre.

Online crime report links stolen tools to rightful owner in Nanaimo
A set of stolen Makita tools has been returned to their owner, thanks to the owner’s online report of the theft.
According to a Nanaimo RCMP press release, the tools were found Feb. 11, at the scene of a break and enter to a business on Selby Street.
Photos of the cordless tools were circulated internally through the Nanaimo detachment. They were also posted on social media sites and nearby construction sites were checked for a possible owner.

Eight runners will cover much of the length of Vancouver Island when the Wounded Warriors Run B.C. 2026 sets out to support Canadian veterans, first responders and their families.

Detailing B.C.’s tax changes in Budget 2026, including income tax increases
B.C. is planning a broad suite of changes to its provincial tax code as part of its latest budget in an attempt to drum up revenue and tamp down the deficit.
It amounts to a total three-year tax increase of more than $4.2 billion.
This includes an income tax hike, the freezing of tax brackets and the end of provincial sales tax exemptions. Roughly 60 per cent of taxpayers will have increased taxes.

Neighbours to Universal Ostrich Farm have filed a civil suit following weeks of occupation by police and officials last year.
A notice of civil claim was filed with the Vernon Courthouse Feb. 10 naming Alyson Turnbull, Trevor Klug and Margaret Greba as plaintiffs.

$10 a Day ChildCareBC provider enrolment put on pause in Budget 2026
The provincial government will be pausing the enrolment of new providers for the $10 a Day ChildCareBC program, as well as the Operating Funding Model, during a “stabilization period.”
