    A group of volunteers maintaining an alpine and rock garden at Nanoose Place is asking the Regional District of Nanaimo to help fund fencing to protect the garden from rabbits that have been destroying its plants.
    In a letter to Rick Daykin, interim director of RDN Recreation and Parks, the volunteers said the growing rabbit population has resulted in the loss of numerous plants, including some grown from seed by the garden’s original benefactor, Eswyn Lyster.
