  The Legacy of Terry Fox will live on this weekend with a cancer research fundraising walk in Nanaimo.
  Terry Fox, an 18-year-old from Coquitlam, B.C. embarked on his Marathon of Hope on the other side of the country (Newfoundland) in April 1980, but it was cut short due to a recurrence of cancer in Sept. 1980 – he died on June, 28, 1981.

• Witnesses sought regarding incident between police and man on Bastion Street

  The Independent Investigations Office of BC is seeking witnesses to the arrest of a man in Nanaimo.
  Initial information provided by the RCMP states that around 10:45 p.m. on Sept. 12, police received a call about a man refusing to leave a bar on Bastion Street near the intersection with Commercial Street.
  Upon arrival, officers located the man and then attempted to arrest him on the sidewalk outside the bar.

• Injured cat back with family following Summerland wildfire

  A black cat, found alone and injured during the Bald Range wildfire, has been treated and is now reunited with his family.
