    James Butler rushed for 135 yards and two touchdowns, leading the B.C. Lions to a 36-24 win over the Edmonton Elks in CFL action Saturday at the Apple Bowl in Kelowna.

    Smoke from wildfire near Boston Bar fills Okanagan skies
    Smoke from two wildfires burning north of Boston Bar can be seen above the west side of Okanagan Lake.
    Several people took to social media Saturday evening to report a large plume of smoke in the hills above Westside Road.
    The Brunswick Creek fire was first reported on July 2 and is now estimated at 100 hectares and is burning out of control.

    Quickly growing grass fire extinguished off Highway 97 in West Kelowna
    A grass fire that sparked off Highway 97 and Sneena Road, Saturday evening, was quickly doused.
    According to West Kelowna Fire Chief Jason Brolund, crews responded to the area at about 5:30 p.m. as flames were quickly spreading right off the highway.
    The fire was located near Bridge Hill and grew to about 300 feet by 75 feet, said Brolund.
    “Crews were able to quickly knock down the fire despite heavy winds in the area, and it is now considered out,” he said.
