• Vancouver Island University continues work towards financial stability

    Vancouver Island University continues work to balance its books, the head of the post-secondary institution told City of Nanaimo council.
    The university, with campuses in Nanaimo, Cowichan and Powell River, has been dealing with multi-million dollar deficits and in a 2025/26 third quarter financial report, it stated a surplus of close to $5.8 million is forecast for the end of the fiscal year (March 31), but is also projecting an additional $48 million in deficits over the next three fiscal year
