Beyond potatoes: B.C. farmer grows agri-awareness across social media
While there’s a current trend where “hot girl” social media influencers pose with adorable but artificial intelligence-created barnyard animals to farm clicks, there’s one actual farmer in South Surrey who has grown more than just followers across his social media platforms.
Tyler Heppell, a fifth-generation farmer who quit a high-paying sales job to return to his family’s South Surrey potato farm, showcases farming and agriculture on his TikTok, Instagram and other -

Pipeline tax breaks could make for ‘hard choices’ for B.C. communities
At a time when B.C. municipalities are preparing their provisional budgets for next year, the District of Clearwater is preparing for its tax base to be cratered.
The Trans Mountain pipeline runs through Clearwater’s borders, and as it ships oil from Edmonton to Burnaby, it also funnels tax revenue into Clearwater’s municipal coffers.
But the amount of tax revenue that Clearwater and other pipeline communities receive is set to drop dramatically.

Lionel Peter Benoit
Lionel Peter Benoit was born in the French village of Hoey, Saskatchewan on September 26, 1935. He was sure to remind us that he was born in a barn (converted to a home!). Always an adventurer, he took his final journey from Nanaimo to his heavenly home on November 10, 2025.
Lionel was the loving husband of his wife, Cathie, and loving father to his son Brent Benoit (Avril) and his daughter, Gisele Benoit. He will be fondly remembered by his only grandchild, Owen Benoit, and by his many nieces, -

Those surgeries include knee, hip, eye, shoulder and other elective surgeries.
On Wednesday, the premier posted on social media that a Dual Practice Surgical Model will increase the number of surgeries, decrease wait times, and no Albertan will need to pay out-o -

Commissioner calls for human rights-based approach to B.C.’s toxic drug crisis
B.C.’s human rights commissioner is calling for a need to place evidence-based recommendations above stigma when it comes to navigating the province’s toxic drug crisis.
Kasari Govender, in a position statement released Nov. 13, makes the case that the government’s failure to address the toxic drug crisis with evidence-based actions is largely due to stigma. It also adds the government is instead focusing on criminal justice responses and involuntary care.
