Demolition of the paddocks at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve began Tuesday — the first step of a $60-million rebuild that Formula One organizers say will be ready in time for next year’s Grand Prix.
“It’s the start of a new era,” said Grand Prix CEO François Dumontier, adding that the new building replacing the aging paddocks would enhance Montreal’s international image.

The Pointe-Claire Yacht Club is hosting the TRY Regatta for young sailors and an Olympic sailor will be on hand to scout for talent.
The regatta runs from July 5-8 and spectators are welcome.

Inmate who escaped from Amos prison arrested
An inmate who escaped from Amos prison in Abitibi-Témiscamingue Sunday has been found, the Sûreté du Québec says.

Dominic Houle, 38, was arrested Monday night in St-Dominique-du-Rosaire, about 25 kilometres north of Amos. He was then detained by the SQ at their post in Amos until his court appearance.

Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante announced Tuesday that police and firefighters will go door to door to visit vulnerable residents during the heat wave.

Actor Paul Cagelet sentenced to 15 months for possession of child porn
Montreal actor Paul Cagelet has been sentenced to a 15-month prison term for having amassed a large collection of child pornography.
The prison term was part of a common suggestion presented to Quebec Court Judge Julie Riendeau at the Montreal courthouse on Tuesday. The two charges Cagelet pleaded guilty to carry a 12-month mandatory minimum prison term.
Prosecutor Anne Gauvin told Riendeau that when the case against Cagelet began in 2016 the Crown considered a longer prison term. She noted that -
