STM maintenance workers' strike begins on Grand Prix weekend
The union of 2,400 maintenance workers for the Société de transport de Montréal (STM), which includes mechanics and electricians, has given notice of an overtime-hours strike starting this weekend and extending until June 22. Employees are refusing to work more than 40 hours a week during this two-week period.

Simons to expand to West Island with new Fairview Pointe Claire store
Maison Simons is opening its first store on Montreal’s West Island at the Fairview Pointe Claire shopping mall.
According to a statement issued by the retailer and the mall’s co-owners, Ivanhoé Cambridge and Cadillac Fairview, the new store is slated to open in 2021.
Simons will take over the second and third floors of a space that was previously occupied by Sears.
