Montreal's Bixi posts $1 million surplus for 2017
Montreal’s Bixi bike-sharing posted a surplus of just over $1 million in 2017, it’s most successful year ever in terms of ridership, with hike of 32 per cent in daily ridership.
It added 1,000 bikes, 80 stations and 2,214 bike stands last year. The city finances the bike-sharing service with close to $3 million.
The popularity of Montreal’s Bixi bikes saw a rise of 35 per cent since the season started April 10, compared to the same period in 2017.

Quebec abandons pit bull ban; says breed-specific law can't be applied
QUEBEC — The provincial government is abandoning the idea of banning pit bull dogs.
Public Security Minister Martin Coiteux made the announcement Wednesday just as the proposed legislation, Bill 128, heads into clause-by-clause study by a committee of the legislature.
“There is no scientific consensus that the idea of going so far as to designate and ban a specific race (of dogs) is applicable,” Coiteux told reporters.

Bishop's Gaiters football coaching legend Bruce Coulter dies at age 90
Bruce Coulter, the longtime former head football coach at Bishop’s University, died Tuesday at age 90.
Coulter, who coached the Gaiters from 1961-90, was much more than just a coach to his players at Bishop’s, where he was also athletic director and dean of students. He was a father figure.
