Two injured as STM bus hits tree
A Société de transport de Montréal bus violently struck a tree in the middle of the night on Tuesday.
The Service de Police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) reports that the driver and two passengers were on board during the accident. One of the passengers suffered minor injuries.
Although a crowbar was used to remove the driver from the bus, he was not seriously injured.

Stray cat strut a problem in Ste-Anne
Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue is looking for some volunteers to help capture feral cats.
The city has a feral cat program which is designed to help curb the feline population in the city, said Ste-Anne town councillor Ryan Young.
“Ste-Anne’s has always had a cat problem,” he said.
He said Ste-Anne has a lot of renters, and every summer many pet cats are abandoned or simply run away from their owners around the July 1 moving weekend in Montreal.

Foundations call on G7 leaders to take action on climate change

Participant in Montreal's Tour de l'Île dies after cardiac arrest
A cyclist who suffered a cardiac arrest during Sunday’s Tour de l’Île has died.
Patrick Lizotte, who was 39-years-old, was in cardiac arrest when paramedics arrived at Hochelaga St. and Parkville Ave. in Mercier—Hochelaga-Maisonneuve.
He was in critical condition when he was taken to a hospital nearby. He died at 12:30 p.m., according to the Montreal coroner’s office.

Man stabbed in downtown Montreal park won't cooperate with police
A man was stabbed Monday night in Champ-de-Mars Park in Ville-Marie.
The 33-year-old victim was stabbed in his upper body by another man. He is in hospital but the Montreal police do not believe his life is at risk.
Officers were alerted to the incident near the corner of St-Louis and Gosford Sts. at 11:20 p.m. Monday. People in the area told police that a conflict had escalated between the victim and a 37-year-old suspect.
