Man missing after Friday night swim in Soulanges Canal
A man who had taken a nighttime dip in Soulanges Canal with friends late Friday seems to have disappeared into the water.
Witnesses called provincial police at about 11 p.m. to report the man, about 20 years old, jumped into the water near Pointe-des-cascades, and never resurfaced.
Police and firefighters resumed their search Saturday after a the initial search-and-rescue team turned up nothing by 1 a.m.

A Montreal man is launching a crowdfunding campaign to take his case to the Human Rights Tribunal to get damages from the man who attacked him while shouting racist slurs.
Harrold Acquah, who is black, was delivering newspapers in Pointe St-Charles early one June morning in 2013 when Garry Wheatley assaulted him. Acquah recounted how Wheatley, who is white, shouted the N-word at him and punched him repeatedly in the neck and jaw even after he had fallen to the ground.
