Montreal's forgotten history: Buried on unholy ground
Marian Scott tells the story of Joseph Guibord, a man who was shunned by the Catholic church for refusing to be told what he could read.
It took five years for Guibord to be buried at the Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery. An angry mob prevented the first attempt to bury him.
He eventually was laid to rest in the cemetery, but the area where he was buried was then deconsecrated — leaving his final resting place unholy.

Canadiens’ prospective draft picks for 2018: Filip Zadina, left winger
The NHL Entry Draft next month provides the Canadiens with an opportunity to provide some instant relief for the ailing team while also giving bird-dog Trevor Timmons and his staff a chance to demonstrate their ability to find prospects beyond the first round.
The draft lottery allowed the Canadiens to move up one spot to No. 3 and that could provide an NHL-ready player although filling the need for a top-six centreman appears unlikely.
There are some talented wingers and defencemen, but the top -

POP Montreal: 10 shows you don't want to miss
The common wisdom on POP Montreal is that it’s an indie fest all about far-off-the-beaten-track artists — and the 17th annual edition of the alternative music festival, which runs Sept. 26-30, has plenty of those. But POP has always had its fair share of marquee names, too, including Patti Smith, Arcade Fire, Burt Bacharach, Giorgio Moroder, Nick Cave, Interpol and Grimes.
