Planning a cookout in the woods? Don't, Quebec says
Quebec’s ministry of forests, wildlife and parks has issued a ban on open air fires in or near the province’s woodlands effective 8 a.m. May 17.
The directive is based on prevailing weather conditions and is in effect until further notice.
The ban is aimed specifically at heavily wooded regions, including Abitibi-Témiscamingue, the Outaouais and the Laurentiens but also extends to Laval and Montreal and the Montérégie.

Couillard promises slice of sales tax for Quebec cities
Premier Philippe Couillard is promising to allocate one percentage point of the province’s 9.975 per cent sales tax to cities and towns if the Liberals are re-elected on Oct. 1.

Montreal outdoor concert festivals: How loud is too loud?
The cities of Montreal and St-Lambert are working together to establish a tolerable volume level for the music coming from Parc Jean-Drapeau during the summer concert season, Radio Canada reports.
