When it comes to standing up for jailed Saudi Arabian blogger Raif Badawi, Quebec is once again leading the charge.
City councillors Marvin Rotrand and Lionel Perez have tabled a motion to declare Badawi an honorary citizen of Montreal. The motion will be debated on May 28.

From cannabis to dogs, deadline looms for Quebec bills
QUEBEC — With time running out before the legislative session wraps for the election, the government is moving ahead with a flurry of last-minute bills it hopes to pass before the June 15 recess.
The deadline to present legislation is May 15, and the government of Premier Philippe Couillard is to present four more major pieces of legislation Tuesday.
That is in addition to the long list of bills already on the order paper, covering everything from cannabis legalization to dogs.

A Montreal borough mayor is accused of harassing co-workers: report
The mayor of Villeray—St-Michel—Parc-Extension borough has been accused of harassing co-workers, according to a news report.
Giuliana Fumagalli is now working from home, according to the TVA report.
Fumagalli is a member of Mayor Valérie Plante’s Projet Montréal party.
