A 32-year-old man was found dead on Saturday evening in a room in a St-Hubert building in the borough of Longueuil in which he was renting a room.
A 26-year-old man found in a nearby room was in critical condition in hospital on Sunday, according to Longueuil police.
Although the precise cause of the victim’s death is not yet known, police said Sunday the working hypothesis of investigators is it was a drug overdose.

Quebecers who celebrate the holiday will spend an average of $62 to make mom happy, for a total of $235 million.
As is the case every year, flowers will be the most offered gift to moms: 56 per cent of Quebecers buy them.

Man arrested for dangerous driving after car chase on Highways 15, 40
Provincial police arrested a man early Sunday who tried to flee after being pulled over on Highway 15.
The driver was heading south on Highway 15 in Laval just after 5 a.m. when police stopped him for passing on the right, said Sergeant Claude Denis of the Sûreté du Québec.

Federal by-election to be held June 18 in Chicoutimi-Le Fjord
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced Sunday that a by-election will be held in Chicoutimi-Le Fjord on June 18.
Voters will choose a replacement for former Liberal MP Denis Lemieux, who resigned in November for personal reasons.
Local businesswoman Lina Boivin will run for the Liberal Party of Canada.
The Conservative Party has chosen Richard Martel, the former coach of the Chicoutimi Saguenéens Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

Truckers to disrupt traffic around Turcot Interchange Monday morning
Some 3,500 independent truckers are planning to disrupt rush-hour traffic Monday morning to protest against the use of unregulated truckers on government construction sites.
The Association nationale des camionneurs artisans is planning to demonstrate against the Quebec Transport Department’s failure to crack down on the issue at 60 sites across the province.
In particular, the truckers are planning to cause disruptions at the Turcot Interchange and at the National Assembly in Quebec -
Stabbing victim in critical condition, suspect arrested
A 44-year-old man is in critical condition after being stabbed early Sunday morning in Montreal’s Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough.
The bleeding victim was found around 3:15 a.m. in an apartment on Lacordaire St., near Hochelaga St.
The man had received serious injuries to his upper body and might not survive.
Shortly afterward, police arrested a 44-year-old suspect nearby.
The two men know each other. The reason for the attack has not been determined.

One man dead, one injured in Longueuil home
A 32-year-old man was found dead Saturday night in a home on de la Savane St. in the St-Hubert borough of Longueuil.
A second man, 26, was found in an adjoining room. He was reported to be in critical condition.
An acquaintance of the dead man made the macabre discovery at around 7:30 p.m.
The cause of death is unknown and there were no signs of violence on the victim’s body.
Longueuil police are investigating. -
