Walter Buchignani: Formula One returns to the familiar in Spain
After a topsy-turvy start to the Formula One season, things are expected to return to a semblance of normalcy at this weekend’s Spanish Grand Prix.
Shame. It’s been a fun ride.
It’s no secret the No. 1 complaint about F1 is it is too often too predictable, with the same two or three teams — if that — sharing the spoils year after year.
On paper, at least, 2018 seems no different, with Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull once again emerging as the Big Three contenders aft -

What the Puck: Canadiens' quickest path to success is John Tavares
There is one question uppermost in most Canadiens fans’ minds in the weeks following yet another disastrous season for the bleu-blanc-et-rouge. What is Marc Bergevin’s famous plan that he keeps talking about?

Opéra de Montréal's Roméo et Juliette takes rightful place in history
In fair Verona, where we lay our scene — or fair Cincinnati, or fair Tulsa, or fair Calgary, or fair Baltimore, to name only a few of the 11 cities to which the 1986 Opéra de Montréal production of Charles Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette has been exported in the 21st century alone.
Confining our outlook to Montreal, the run starting on May 19 will be the fourth for these sets, which merit the modifier “period” both in so far as they have a Renaissance look -

Montreal’s jobless rate remained at 5.9 per cent while the provincial unemployment rate was down slightly, from 5.6 per cent to 5.4 per cent, Statistics Canada said on Friday.

Michel Tremblay’s Hosanna: a Quebec classic or transphobic?
How do you solve a problem like Hosanna? Still hailed as a groundbreaking Québécois classic, Michel Tremblay’s 1973 drama has nonetheless been under fire in recent years for, some claim, perpetuating transphobic tropes about sad, confused outcasts who should escape self-delusion by saying no to the dress.
The controversy didn’t stop the independent company Tableau D’Hôte from sweeping the Montreal English Theatre Awards for its 2015 production at MainLine. T -

Wine: Quebec’s thirst for sauvignon blanc started with Kim Crawford
I remember when Kim Crawford’s sauvignon blanc first arrived in Quebec about 12 years ago. For those of us brought up on the French interpretation of the grape, it was a bit of a shock. But as reported by Ottawa-based journalist Marc André Gagnon on his site VinQuebec, it has become a top selling wine in the province.
Its popularity has helped put both New Zealand’s Marlborough region, and the sauvignon blanc grape, on more shopping lists.
