Pat Hickey: Canadiens should deal No. 3 pick in package for top centre
In the moments after the Canadiens moved up to the No. 3 spot in the NHL draft lottery on Saturday night, general manager Marc Bergevin discussed the options leading up to the June 23 entry draft.
“At No. 3, you get a player (from the draft) that’s probably going to play sooner than later,” said Bergevin, who went on to concede that he might be willing to trade the pick. “Anything’s possible, but you suffer a lot to get that pick, so it has to be a pretty -
Opinion: As Toronto unites, some remain excluded
Discussion of last week’s van attack in Toronto has, at times, felt a bit off base.
The quick work of the first responders and Good Samaritans, the actions of the police officer who arrested the suspect without a shot, the outpouring of sympathy for the victims’ families — all of these things have been repeatedly held up as indicators of a healthy, well-functioning society, one with a deep and inclusive sense of community.
It’s as if in the face of the awful sadness and h -

Opinion: School boards are key to English education rights in Quebec
For some voters, Coalition Avenir Québec’s plan to abolish school boards is an appealing siren song. The party, leading in the polls, advocates the decentralization of the public school system focusing on the individual school; schools would be loosely grouped in some sort of regional authority controlled by Quebec City.
Hidden are the shoals of disaster upon which the education rights of the English-speaking minority would break up. Whatever the administrative and pedagogical merit -
