Accused stabbed drug dealer, then hit panic button, manslaughter trial told
An Île Bizard resident waited until after he fatally stabbed a drug dealer to whom he owed money before he pressed the panic alarm installed inside his home.
Prosecutor Valérie Bourbonniere highlighted this piece of evidence as she made her opening statement in the trial of Steve Barnes, accused of manslaughter in the death of George Berry.
The victim was killed the night of Nov. 14, 2015, outside Barnes’s home on St-Maurice St. In Île Bizard.

Recyc-Québec launches phone app to show what goes where
Confused by your recycling bin? Recyc-Québec has launched a smartphone app called “Ça va où?” (“Where does it go?”) to help Quebecers organize their recycling.
The app can be downloaded free on smartphones and a version is also available online.
More than 800 consumer products are listed, and the app explains how each item should dealt with, whether it’s plastic, glass, batteries, tires or fabrics.

The Musée d’art contemporain will undergo major renovations that will make the popular museum larger, brighter and more contemporary.

Small town in Lanaudière faces 'out of the ordinary' landslide threat
Soil studies were carried out Monday in Sainte-Marie-Salomé, in the province’s Lanaudière district, in the wake of a landslide last week.
Six residences as well as a stable on Saint-Jean Rd. were evacuated as a precaution Friday night. In total, 13 persons and a pair of horses had to be relocated.
An inspection of the area by civil security officials found that other parcels of land were also in danger of sliding dozens of metres.
