Quebec's future in flux as six-month countdown to provincial election begins
If current polling projections hold, Canadians could be reintroduced to a political reality in Quebec not seen since the late 1960s — a party other than the federalist Liberals or the sovereigntist Parti Quebecois running the province.
With the Oct. 1 election now six months away, Francois Legault’s nationalist Coalition Avenir Quebec is riding high in public opinion polls.
Recent surveys have suggested the Coalition would have formed a minority government or obtained a slim majority -

Celine Cooper: Enough winter! I'm ready for terrasse season
This is an April Fool’s joke, right?
Over the weekend, Environment Canada announced that a spring storm was making its way up from the central United States, over the Great Lakes and into Quebec. Starting Tuesday, parts of this province could see spots of snow, flurries and freezing rain.
The good news is that Montreal will likely be spared the worst of it. The latest forecasts predict rain for our city, not more of the dreaded white stuff. OK, fine. But it’s still just a little too -

When professional baseball returned to Montreal last week with the St. Louis Cardinals and Toronto Blue Jays playing a pair of exhibition games at Olympic Stadium, baseball fans might have noticed a lot more Expos caps on display around town. Schukov: Template for a teen party contract
I am very happy that towns adjoining humming Highway 20 are inching closer to getting a sound wall, but here is something noisier even closer to home:
Based on what I recently witnessed of my neighbours’ son’s last party in their basement, I have valuable advice for parents who are about to consent to their teen’s next party: Draw up a legally binding contract with the perpetrator. To make it simple, I herewith offer a draft for consideration:
