Will the small Quebec town of Huntingdon be Canada's next Hockeyville?
Melissa Spenard arrived at the Centre Sportif Promutuel in Huntingdon Friday morning with her two daughters and two sons.
The boys (Thies, 10, and Bas, 6) play hockey; the girls (Nelleke, 12, and Mieke, 8) figure skate. Their family uses the arena several times a week from early fall to spring.
That’s why they, and most other citizens in this small town 75 kilometres southwest of Montreal, have their fingers crossed that Huntingdon will be named the 2018 Kraft Hockeyville Sunday during the -

Technoparc shakeup brings hope to environmentalists
Environmentalists and animal lovers are cautiously optimistic that a sudden, city-ordered change in leadership at Technoparc Montréal — as well as a diminutive heron and an endangered wood thrush — can help save the city’s top birding spot and one of the few wetlands on the island of Montreal.
Close to 100 birdwatchers bearing binoculars and long lenses came to the St-Laurent technopark, on the northern edge of the Montreal-Trudeau airport, for the second-annual Good Fri -

The Canadiens' terrible season might actually be good for your heart
Watching your favourite team play a close game can be thrilling. But, as any diehard fan knows, there can also be a lot of yelling at the TV.
All that excitement can put extra stress on your heart, according to a study published in the Canadian Journal of Cardiology.
Researchers studied data from the Montreal Heart Institute to see if there was any association between admissions of those suffering ST-elevation myocardial infarction (a heart attack) and days the Montreal Canadiens played a g -
The death knell for Bishop St. businesses came from a jackhammer
The signs on the fence barring half of Bishop St. say the local businesses are open, but that’s not really true.

Vélo Québec president Suzanne Lareau called the proposed fines “discriminatory and -
You probably won't be hit by space debris this weekend
You probably won’t be hit by space debris this weekend, but there’s a slim chance — quite slim, actually — that Montrealers could see the remains of a space station burn up in the atmosphere just to the south of us.
China’s out-of-control Tiangong-1 space station went rogue in 2016 and it’s now falling back to Earth. It’s expected to make landfall sometime this long weekend, with April 1 the most likely date (no joke). The station weighs 8.5 metric tons -

Don Macpherson: Carlos Leitão's Sharknado budget
Like a rapper flaunting his wealth in a video by rapidly peeling off a stack of bills one by one into the air, Quebec Finance Minister Carlos Leitão made it rain this week.
In fact, Leitão didn’t just make it rain in his free-spending pre-election budget. He produced a Sharknado.
Yes, sharks were falling from the heavens in Quebec City — figuratively speaking. The spending estimates accompanying the budget included more than $50 million for a new pavilion at the Quebec -
Never say goodbye: Bon Jovi's love affair with Montreal
Map out your future, but do it in pencil.— John Bongiovi
In the beginning, there was the hair.
Fourteen inches of chestnut poodledom, fawned over in a silly Rolling Stone magazine cover piece in 1987, and long since trimmed and turned debonairly mature. But John Bongiovi always had his sights set high. His mother was a part-time Playboy Bunny, and his father was a hairdresser. In all sincerity, what the hell else was he going to do but be a rock star?
